ABOUT US
Founded in 2000, our forte was non-fiction shows – including the mega-hit, Indian Idol (2004). The range widened with shows across drama, reality, variety, and crime – and over 25 awards. It is comedy that Optimystix truly owns, with over 20 hit shows since the first in 2007 – Comedy Circus has had 18 seasons! With almost 100 shows behind us, we’re excited about new forays into films and digital content.
LEADERSHIP
- The story of Vipul's life would make for a great underdog movie, multi-season TV series and even a graphic novel or two! But in reality he's the one who became a writer-producer (a rare breed!) and founded Optimystix to entertain us. His stamp of creative quality has been marked on every show the company has produced. He is so well-respected industry-wide for having his finger on the pulse of the population, that we think he should be called Doctor Vipul!
- The fact that he is CEO should say it all, but it doesn't. First, no one has seen him wear a tie, let alone a suit, so he's not THAT kind of CEO! Second, he's had more fun than most - shot advertising films at exotic locales, produced music videos with top artists, and dunked a car in a lake for a shoot! But all of that only adds to the fact that the buck stops with him - budgets, negotiations, liaisons with top talent and crew, and of course, development of new business.
- Optimystix has never produced a legal drama, but if we had, "Bala Saheb" as he is affectionately known, would have multiple roles - Judge, Jury and... Plaintiff! Bala is the legal eagle here, and he ensures that all the hard work done by the creative team is well-protected with iron clad contracts and commercial arrangements. Bala could be seen as the Iron Fist, but the fact that he handles the HR and Administration functions shows that he's a softie at heart!
- Nikul Desai always wanted a career in entertainment – we know that because he started right at the bottom as an audience coordinator for our first game shows, and worked his way up to being a Creative Director for all our non-fiction shows. All in double quick time. Top broadcast executives acknowledge him as the King of Comedy, and he’s now effectively responsible for the careers of much the top talent of the country!
- As Finance Controller, Paresh is the man who ensures that the creative team has all the freedom to make magic on screen, because he takes care of the "boring stuff" - keeping the cash flows in top working order. A qualified Chartered Accountant with 18 years of experience, Paresh may seem like a quintessential "suit," but he's known to sneak one of his deadly jokes into the conversation just when everyone least expects it!
- Hemant Kevani’s earrings are the only hint of his royal-sounding roots. The rest of him is a mix of busybody creative head and Swiss diplomat. (he went to finishing school in Switzerland!) His Zen-like presence makes him much loved by the creative folks of our fiction team, which he leads; but also by demanding network executives. It's very tough to keep multiple daily shows running smoothly, but Hemant can make you feel it's a piece of cake...or his favourite dhoklas.
- The newest member of the Optimystix family, Priya comes with 14 years of experience in the luxury, travel and fashion industries, her last stint being with Conde Nast Traveler as Advertising Director. At Optimystix she will leverage her experience to take the company into new areas like films and digital content. A keen reader and traveler, Priya also loves archaeology, which begs the question - will Optimystix produce the next Indiana Jones movie, but with a woman lead!
- As the photograph alongside indicates - Rajnish could easily playing the dreamy lead man in any of our shows that are targeted at women! In real life however, the man has an acute and perceptive analytical mind, backed up by years on the production floor handling all kinds of large format shows. All of which made for a perfect combination when we were 'casting' for our General Manager - at Optimystix he's the man who handles all production and the production-related aspects of the P&L.
- Armed with a post-graduate degree in media, plus a killer smile, Mani is our girl for all seasons. As a Creative Director she's made audiences laugh (sitcoms, comedy), cry (drama, daily soaps) and dance with Bollywood stars (live events). She also makes her colleagues dance to her tune, but that's another story! The fact that our clients love her - because she manages the complexities needed to execute large shows - proves that she is truly value for Mani...we mean money!
